1.  In French there aresevral tenses that areused to describe passed actions.  Passé composé describes actions that started and ended at a specific time, l'imparfait describes habitual or continuous actions.

2.  You use imparfait when describing physical conditions such as weather or states in the past, the time at which these begin or end isnt important, in passé composé the beginning and ending is important.

3.  How is it formed in the regular forms?

To get the stem of the imperfect you drop the -ons ending from the nous form of the present tense, and you add the imperfect ending.
